About

MW Makes is a leather goods brand by architect-maker Michelle Wong, offering personalised, handcrafted leather goods for the everyday. Influenced by her background in architecture, Michelle designs each item with a focus on simple geometries, clean lines and functionality.

Materials

All products are made from a selection of oak-tanned and vegetable-tanned leathers from selected UK and Italian tanneries. This means the leather is chrome-free and is transformed from raw hide into leather using tannins extracted from vegetable matter such as chestnut and bark. 

These leathers respond to the conditions of its use, forming a rich patina and character over time which makes it unique to its owner. 

Process

All items are handmade from start to finish by Michelle, from her studio at Cockpit Arts in Deptford, London. Traditional saddlery tools and techniques are used, such as saddle stitching and hand burnishing. The result is a collection of simple, yet functional items that are made to last. 

Made to Order

All items are made to order, giving you the option to choose your preferred leather, thread and fixing combination. All products can also be personalised with your choice of blind debossed lettering, gold or silver foiling.
